Bar Exam
2010 exam dates and location(s)
The February 2010 Nebraska bar exam will take place on Tuesday, February 23 and Wednesday, February 24. The July 2010 Nebraska bar exam will take place on Tuesday, July 27 and Wednesday, July 28. Exams are given in Lincoln.
MEE subjects (MBE subjects are in bold)
Business Associations (Agency and Partnerships, and Corporations and Limited Liability Corporations); Conflict of Laws; Constitutional Law; Contracts; Criminal Law and Procedure; Evidence; Family Law; Federal Civil Procedure; Real Property; Torts; Trusts and Estates (Decedents’ Estates, and Trusts and Future Interests); and Uniform Commercial Code (Negotiable Instruments and Secured Transactions).
Structure
The Tuesday exam day consists of six MEE questions. The Wednesday exam day consists of the MBE. The MBE is a 200 question multiple choice exam. 100 questions are asked in the morning over a three hour period, and 100 questions are asked in the afternoon over a three hour period. The MBE has 33 questions each for Contracts and Torts, and 31 questions each for Constitutional Law, Criminal Law and Procedure, Evidence, and Real Property. 190 of the 200 questions are graded, the other 10 are experimental. 200 questions over six hours averages out to 1.8 minutes per question.
Scoring
Examinees must achieve a combined MEE/MBE score of 135 to pass.
MPRE
Applicants for the Nebraska bar exam must score an 85 on the MPRE. Applicants without a passing score on the MPRE should include in their application a $100 fee in addition to the application fee.
Pass rate
Nebraska’s pass rate for the July 2008 exam was 89% for first time takers, and 85% for all takers.

A laptop program is available to all interested applicants for a $150 fee. Applicants must include this fee with their application.

Application deadlines
Applicants must file their application no earlier than September 1 and no later than November 1 for the February exam. Applicants must file their application no earlier than January 1 and no later than April 1 for the July exam.
Application fees
The application fee for the Nebraska bar exam is $515. Fees can be paid in cash, or via cashier’s check or money order, payable to “Secretary, Nebraska State Bar Commission.”
Forms
The Commission has temporarily disabled the eFast application software. It requests that candidates apply via the downloadable application for now. The Commission also requests that candidates submit their application via a floppy disk rather than a flash drive.
Post-Bar Exam
Results
The Committee releases results mid-April for the February exam, and mid-September for the July exam.
